Nasarawa State University Shut Indefinitely After Security Operatives Allegedly Shot and Killed Four Students During Protest Over Water Scarcity

The Nasarawa State University has been shut indefinitely following the killing of more than four students by soldiers.

Sources say the students embarked on a peaceful protest early on Monday to register their grievances with the University authority as regards the scarcity of water on the campus.

The soldiers reportedly shot sporadically, killing at least four students and injuring many.
However, Spokesman of the Nasarawa State Police Command, Michael Ada, confirmed the killing of the students but denied they were shot by police officers.

He said the state commissioner of police had already visited the scene.
Authorities of the institution have now shut the university indefinitely.
