It is yet another sad day in the Nigerian movie industry as legendary actor, Justus Esiri, is dead.
The veteran Nollywood actor passed on Tuesday night at the age of 70.
Details on the cause of Justus Esiri’s death have not emerged, although unconfirmed reports have it that the actor had been secretly battling an age related illness.
He was the father of Onoriode Esiri, known commonly as, Dr SID, a Nigerian singer-songwriter.
The late Justus Esiri was born in November 1942 in Oria, Abraka, Delta State.
Declared one of the strong men of the African film industry, Justus Esiri had indeed earned his fame.
He attended Urohobo College in Delta state and later went to Germany to study engineering where he developed an interest for theater, thus he began his acting career on stage in Germany.
He also worked for the Voice of Nigeria - German Service as a translator.
JUSTUS ESIRI was a Member of the Order of the Niger (MON). His fame was launched widely for his role in the ever popular Nigerian 1980′s sitcom, the Village Headmaster where he played the "Headmaster", and was actively involved in the Nigerian movie industry until his death.
